One if the best state parks in the country. Wonderful camping locations with a fishing and swimming lake. There is a large pool. Mather Lodge offers spectacular vista's from the dining room. The play grounds are great for small children.

We hiked to the waterfall, which at this time is more like a water-trickle. Very beautiful though. Make sure to take lots of water and keep in mind that going back up the trail is harder after already hiking a bit. Overall a very enjoyable time though.

This park is an Arkansas staple! Petit Jean State Park has a very cozy welcome center, cabins and many trails of varying difficulty, none of them being too difficult.

There are many things to do here but I would say the most prominent thing would be hiking. There are some really beautiful and peaceful spots to hike to. The waterfall was amazing and we even visited a cave that had Indian markings. The trails range in length from a mile to 10 miles so I suggest bringing lots of water and snacks. Also bring a swimsuit and water shoes ( some areas have a creek or two that you can wade in.) I'd say this is a good vacation spot for families that have children 10 or older. Any children younger than that may not be able to handle the weather or tired feet.

One of the cleanest state parks I have ever been to. Simply beautiful, all the trails are clearly marked and the staff is super helpful. We stayed in a yurt and the cabins. The yurt is one of the best places to stay. They are right on the water, have electricity, a gas stove, and a canoe. They sleep 6 with 3 bunks. You do have to walk or drive to the bathrooms but they aren't that far. These are great if you don't have a camper but still want electricity.

If you’re visiting for the first time, I would highly recommend going on the Cedar Falls Trail. It is around 2 miles, round trip, and will take you to the more iconic parts of the park, and ends at the cedar falls, a beautiful waterfall, set in a canyon. Make sure to visit after a good rain to get a good, steady waterfall!

I highly recommend this park!
